Jo got in touch with me because she was decorating her living room and wanted a bespoke piece of artwork made to co-ordinate with her new décor. Jo’s home overlooks the water of the Firth of Clyde, and she had decided on a contemporary nautical theme for her living room décor. The commission request was to create a large, statement piece of art with an ocean feel to it.
The painting I created was an eye-catching 36x36 inch piece, using vibrant turquoise merging with deep ocean blues and shimmers of gold. There was a strong sense of movement to the painting, complimented by the curve of the gold leaf used to create the coastline. By incorporating some touches of pink, this gave the dramatic ocean image a sense of femininity and a soft, dream-like feel. The finished painting was a bold abstract inspired by the ocean, with intricate wave foam detailing and a high gloss luxury resin finish.
