My clients had special memories of visiting the Whitsundays, in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.
They got in touch to ask if I could create an abstract representation of some beautiful photos they had from their time there. A commission that is absolutely right up my street - what a stunning place to base an artwork on!
As always when I create a commissioned piece of art, I kept in touch with Gill and John throughout the process, to ensure I was creating the type of artwork they’d imagined. They requested an abstract piece that captured the ‘essence’ of the Whitsundays, rather than a realistic replication of the scene.
I used their photos showing the swirls of the white sands beneath turquoise waters, to guide my artwork. Getting that beautiful colour of the water was vital! I used gold to recreate the effect of the sun glistening against those tropical waters. The fluid art painting was mounted to a deep wooden frame, and coated with a glossy resin finish. This gave the piece a beautiful depth and shine, and added to the contemporary look.
The final artwork is a meaningful piece that represents special memories for John and Gill. I feel so pleased to have been asked to create this bespoke artwork for them and absolutely delighted by their responses to the piece.
