“Vitality of the Ocean”

“Thank you so much Jenna for our amazing personal piece of artwork made by your very own hands. I’m so pleased with it and I can’t wait to get it mounted on the wall of our kitchen. I can already imagine myself staring at this every day and dreaming of my toes in the water’s edge.

Every time I look at it in different light, I see something new to enjoy.

You truly are an amazing artist and have given me the best birthday present ever”

Rhona C, Scotland

Rhona’s husband contacted me to enquire about commissioning a special ocean-inspired painting for Rhona’s upcoming 40th birthday. They had both followed my work on Instagram for a while, so they had a good idea of the style of work Rhona would like. Stuart sent me some screenshots of the paintings Rhona liked from social media, and through e-mail correspondence we worked together to decide on the creation of an artwork in my ‘Golden Sands’ collection style.

I began work by creating a small colour study for approval by Stuart and Rhona. Rhona loves my turquoise paintings, so I created a colour study using beautiful shades of blues. Colour studies are really helpful for the commission process as they give clients a clear idea of what colours will be used in their own custom-made artwork, so they can begin to visualise how the piece will look in their own home. I feel it’s important to take a collaborative approach in my commission work, as it ensures I achieve a finished artwork that clients have been part of and is definitely to their own preferences.

Stuart and Rhona were both happy with the colour study, so I was able to go on and create the bespoke painting. I painted vibrant ocean waves that tumbled toward a golden sandy shore. At Rhona’s request, I kept the use of gold throughout the waves to a subtle shimmer, which beautifully catches the light from various angles. I created intricate white sea foam across the length of the golden coast, drawing your eye in to enjoy the details of the piece. The artwork was finished with a glossy coat of clear resin, which gives the painting a luxurious and contemporary finish.

This painting was a custom size (100cm x 50cm), and the panel it was painted on was made by a specialist art company. The panel is museum-grade quality, with beautiful wood on an aluminium-backed frame.

It was an absolute pleasure to create this painting (in my favourite colours!), and I truly feel honoured to be able to create artwork to celebrate such a special birthday milestone.
